So my husband and I were on day 4 of our vegan adventure! Tuesday evening I looked up a vegan friendly restaurant in the local Avondale area- Melt Birmingham. This cool artistic restaurant is located in the quiet part of Avondale the corner 41st street South and 4th Ave to be exact. So I was impressed- we walked in at 7:40, although was pretty busy, we were seated within 3 minutes of our arrival. The customer service was great from what I could tell- greeted with a smile, seated and greeted by our waiter, Jake and given a nice rundown of the menu. Speaking of food, (cause that’s why we're here right) the vegan options are plentiful… if you call having 3 main dishes outside your normal salads plentiful…they have plenty to choose from. So, we decided on the Summer Tomato- from the description it sounded great: heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella ( sub for vegan cheese, this option cost an additional 2 bucks)arugula pesto ( our waiter came back to let us know this has parm cheese in it so he asked for it on the side for us- attention to detail an extra point in my book!) on Birmingham breadworks

sourdough. The hubby decided to get the kettle chips, I decided on the beer battered fries. I did have to add a little salt and pepper to the sandwich, just for an additional flavor for my liking.Overall the meal was pretty tasty! Oh did I mention they have vegan dessert options?! Winning! I will definitely come back and recommend this charming eatery to others looking for a healthy alternative to the otherwise dairy happy world we live in.
So back to the atmosphere there is a cool trivia game that is played by a total of about 4 groups, from what I can tell… so the great thing about this trivia game- you actually win gift cards! I really like this place, it not only offers pretty cool surroundings, but the games available for each table, the trivia game and the awesome service by Jake( who by the way reminds me of an older Jake from “Two and a Half Guys” ironically), music by a DJ and the option to have a drink make this place pretty high on my list. The hubby asked Jake how long he worked for the this restaurant, he replied “a couple of years”, for anyone who has ever worked in the food industry whether wait staff, host, cashier or cook knows that making it past a year is legendary in most places! His reason for working here, you know outside the need to take care of his bills- he gets to make his customers happy! Man did I mention how big customer service is to me… well its HUGE! We will definitely be back to see Jake and the other great folk down at Melt Birmingham. I suggest that you visit too even if you’re not searching for vegan options, tell them that the B'ham Bloggin' Vegan sent you.

Sounds good! I can't wait to eat there.
